Healthcare matters.
Relying on an economy with a strong export business in livestock,
especially sheep and wool by-products. the Australian government
encouraged breeding development to meet a broader range of worldwide
exports. For wool, that meant expanding and diversifying from the
experience that New Zeland had in supplying wool yarn for carpets.
Australia wisely opted for higher value thin fiber wools for the more
expensive textile industry. This led to increasing quantities of
leather by-products and thus arose the need to find outlays for those
leather products.
The Australian government actually funded 2 roads of researches:
- in leather tanning techniques
- in genetic sciences to develop lambs with coats that have thinner
wool fibers.
In woven rugs, loose ends
of fibers detach and form lint and dust. Medical theory
has it that dust and lint from woven rugs can be dangerous for the
health of kids and family.
The research in tanning techniques allowed for leather wool rugs that
are totally free of that hazard: contemporary rugs that are real health
enhancers for kids and family.
The level of the improved tanning techniques was such that health care
standards were developed for kids care and family hospital use.
Those efforts allowed us to develop leather-wools that are health
enhancers for kids and family.
